Dear Parents,

On behalf of the staff at Sulphur Elementary School, we are happy to welcome you to the 2022-23 school year! We ask that you be patient and understanding as we do our best to educate and keep safety as our main priority this year. We recognize that in order to be successful in school, our children need support from both the home and school. We know a strong partnership with you will make a great difference in your child’s education. As partners, we share the responsibility for their success and want you to know that we will do our very best to carry out our responsibilities.

We would like to welcome our Assistant Principal, Mr. Scroggins, to our district. We are very excited to have him working with us!

New this year-meals from the cafeteria will no longer be free for every student. We ask that you fill out a free/reduced lunch form right away. (They are available in the office now, or you can pick one up during the Meet ‘n Greet on August 9th.)

Morning routine at SES for this upcoming school year:

  1. School starts at 7:50 a.m. Tardy bell rings at 7:55 a.m. It is very important that your child be on time each and every day.

  2. Breakfast will start at 7:30 a.m. Doors will not be unlocked until 7:30 a.m.

  3. Playground supervision begins at 7:30 a.m.

  4. Breakfast will NOT be served after 7:50 a.m. to students.

  5. We are having outdoor recess before school.

    1. Your child will go straight to the playground with their backpacks after you drop them off, unless they choose to have breakfast.

    2. PK students will go to their building

    3. Kinder students will go to the north playground

    4. 1st grade will go to the middle playground

    5. 2nd grade will go to the south playground

    6. If they choose to eat breakfast, they must stay in the cafeteria until they are finished eating and then they must go outside.

Afternoon routine at SES for this upcoming school year:

  1. We will have designated areas for you to pick up your child after school. Your child’s teacher will let you know where those areas are located.

  2. All “car rider” students will be dismissed at 2:50 p.m.

  3. All students that ride the bus will be taken to the bus loading lane at 3:05 p.m.

  4. We do not allow check outs after 2:30 p.m.

  5. Please do not pick your child up late. Staff members often have meetings and appointments they must get to after school.

If your child is absent, please call the office (622-3326) and let us know. It is not up to the teachers to report your child’s absence.

Safety precautions for this school year will be:

  1. ONLY STUDENTS will be allowed inside the building without an appointment.  This is for safety for every student and every staff member. You may drop students off at our drop off zone located on Oklahoma street or you may walk them up to the building but will not be able to enter at this time.

  2. If your child is running a temperature of 100 degrees or more they will need to be picked up from school. We have a bench in front of the SES office that is designated for children that are sick or running fever. Please do not send your child to school if they wake up or go to bed with fever. If your child is sent home from school with a fever they may not return to school until they are fever free or symptom free for 48 hours.

  3. If your child is vomiting or has diarrhea, please keep them home until they are symptom free for 48 hours. We know this can sometimes be related to allergies or medications, but this does not make for a relaxed learning environment.

  4. Snacks may be sent to school but they have to be pre packaged individually.

  5. Your child may bring a water bottle daily and they can refill with our fountains.

The wonderful Sulphur Elementary staff and I feel privileged to be a part of this school family. We thank you for your support and look forward to having a wonderful school year.

For the Kids,

Mrs. Muck, Principal

Mr. Scroggins, Assistant Principal

enote

We have a notification system, Notify, that sends texts to parents/guardians. This is our best way to contact you, so please make sure you keep us up to date on phone number changes. Teachers and the office staff use this often to share information. Notify is not interactive, so your child's teacher will likely also use email to reach out to you, especially if they need you to respond to them. If you would like to add family members or friends to our e-notes list, please click this link for information.  https://www.sulphurk12.org/enote_portal_login

Each grade level posts weekly notes on their webpage, so please get in the habit of checking their page so you have the latest information for classroom related questions.

We also share information on our Facebook page, Sulphur Elementary School.
